This house has been a genuine favorite for about 4 years now. Back when I first found it, I'd planned on taking the train up to visit it. (The house is only a mile from the Train and the train leaves from NYC and takes about 4 1/2 hours. Same as taking the bus to our place in the Berkshires.)
The listing says it has only 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms but the origial listing says it has 12 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms.
Weird.
No matter. I still love this house and would still love to call it my own.

Jim Thorpe is a borough in Carbon County, Pennsylvania, USA. The population was 4,804 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Carbon County.The town has been called the "Switzerland of America" due to the picturesque scenery, mountainous location, and architecture; as well as the "Gateway to the Poconos."

Jim Thorpe is located at 40°52′23″N 75°44′11″W.[9]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 14.8 square miles (38 km2), of which, 14.5 square miles (38 km2) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 km2) of it (2.03%) is water. Located adjacent to the Lehigh River, Jim Thorpe is 3 miles north of Lehighton and 3 miles east of Nesquehoning. Jim Thorpe's elevation is at 1519 feet above sea level.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4,804 people, 1,967 households, and 1,335 families residing in the borough. The population density was 332.1 people per square mile (128.2/km²). There were 2,193 housing units at an average density of 151.6 per square mile (58.5/km²). My husband's life long best friend (Who is really more of a brother than a best friend) has become disenchanted with the great state of New Jersey.

Thanks to one too many episodes of the show "International House Hunters" (we are all completely obsessed) he's decided that he wants to pack it up and move to Uruguay.

Are you all having the same reaction I am?

Riiiigggghhhht. I'll save you a few keystrokes. Here's the Wikipedia on Uruguay.

I adore the best friend and know that to have him make such a crazy drastic move would cause a huge hole in our lives. I've made it my mission to find a home right here in the great US of A for him to set up camp.

As I started to hunt, I realized that the best friend is really a member of our family and wouldn't it be so amazing and awesome if perhaps I could kill two birds with one stone and maybe find a big old house in a good area where the cost of living isn't as crazy as it is here and we could all coexist and hubs and his BFF could really devote the time and focus their amazing podcast deserves?

Hubs BFF is a rare bird in that he doesn't act as a bad influence on hubs, I can trust him to have hub's back always, know he will always do right by my family and never ask my sweetie to engage in any morally questionable hijinks.

He's kind, smart, funny and a responsible soul.

The next few homes you see me put up here will be spaces that I think we could all live in and still maintain our friendship, and our sanity.

Starting with this one. I think a little over 8,000 sq feet is enough room for all of us don't you?

Okay, shifting gears a bit I'm going a little more modern with these next few homes.

My husband loves loves loves Florida and if he could find a good paying job down there we've have our boxes packed.
My trouble with Florida is that to find a home that was built before the 1980's seems to be a mission impossible. The newer a home and the more modern, the happier my husband. Of course you all know where I stand on that.

In a city of 490 approximately 1 hour north of the St. Louis area on the banks of the Mississippi River there are two buildings for sale.
