The houise has been sold and the owners are starting a complete renovation that is planned to last 5-7 years. The plans I understand might include a 2 bedroom bed and breakfast but will mainly be a retirement residence for a husband and wife.
ReplyDeleteThe couple that purchased the house in from Maryland. The house is going to be a private residence and not a bed and breakfast. It is reported that they are bringing it back to as original as possible with updates as far as plumbing, electrical, etc. The renovation is expected to take 7-10 yrs.
ReplyDeleteI'm 67 years old, have travelled a great deal all over the United States and can say that this may very well be the most beautiful house I've ever seen---at least from the outside; the way it presents from the street is ineffably effective. I was so impressed with my first viewing a couple of months ago---while passing through Sheffield for the first time on a long-distance road trip---that I went back for a closer view on another trip just a few days ago. Again, I saw the house only from the outside but walked around, took a snapshot and inquired about the house from folks at the local library and businesses. I commend the new owners for what,I understand, they are trying to do in restoring this magnificent structure to something as close as possible to its original appearance. What they've achieved already is pretty impressive. The combination of original design and current restoration must set a new standard for the celebration of American residential architecture.
