This house sparked another of my pet peeves and I think I finally figured out why I hate wallpaper and Victorian decor.
It's way too much stuff. It's all too busy!
These homes have architectural details and woodworking and lighting that should be the focus and should be where your eyes go when you look at the house or the room.
It's not in these heavily decorated homes. My eyes go to the awful hunter green and maroon wallpaper or the baby doll collection or the heavy drapery before they go to the stunning stained glass and elegant staircases so many of these places sport.
If I EVER have the luck to own one of these gals, I'd do it up in the most minimal way. Let the house be the decor! Show off the nooks and crannies and accentuate the details and care that isn't found in homes of today!
