I know I've put this gal up before but today I found out in passing from a friend who lives in Florida that Seminole County has a stellar school system and Sanford is in the heart of Seminole. That combined with the fact that it's all of 13 degrees here today and they are predicting more snow for the rest of the week...well, this sweetie even with all the repairs she needs is looking like a GREAT place to live!

Do u have anymore pictures of this one? Any more specifics available about the property?
ReplyDeleteI stumbled across this house this weekend on a search for homes in the area. Was searching the internet for some kind of historical information about it. I had seen it listed before and wanted to try to find it. We were lucky enough to get a tour. It is beautiful but would be a handful. It isn't inhabitable as it stands, you'd need separate living arrangements and a fairly large bank account to get it back to shelter status. The right buyer and contractor could work wonders!
ReplyDeleteI saw this property this weekend and was lucky enough to tour the inside. It's BEAUTIFUL but you wouldn't be able to live in it for quite some time. You'd also need a substantial bank account to get it where it needs to be. Though the price has dropped to around $60k, the city has quite a few liens on it. The real estate agent said its possible to negotiate them down. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I figured as much from both the price and the photos.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for telling us about it though! I'm envious you had a chance to tour it.
I seem to be drawn to the homes that need some TLC. I think it's beacuse I know that if given the opportunity (unlimited bank account, nanny to watch the offspring) I would return them to the way they should be rather than updating and modernizing them. Nothing makes me more unhappy than to see a home that looks amazing on the outside only to find recessed lighting, modern fixtures, ugly wrought iron banisters, and no charm or history inside.
ReplyDeletesorry for the double post before, my browser is acting spooky today... i agree, distressed houses have way more beauty in them to me than redone houses that are not correct. my gentleman caller friend is a carpenter with many years of historical restoration (structural and furniture) experience, so its fun for both of us to look at these types of things and daydream of a time when we can take a project on. :)
ReplyDeletethis is the other one that had us dreaming --- way different style, on the other side of orlando, but similar possibilities:

My daughter was checking out houses a few months back and asked me to go check this exact same house out. I jumped in the car and drove over. There is something about it that you just gotta love. It does need lots of repairs, so, yes a large bank account would be a good thing! Unfortunately my daughter didn't want anything to do with it. Honey, if I had the money it would be mine right now. It sits on a corner. The fence is breaking down. The building in the back, you can tell was made later. It could be torn down easily, I'm sure, which would give you a much bigger back yard. It has a sign next to the front door but some of the letters are missing, it says something House. I've tried to find the history on it, with no luck. Sanford was nicknamed "Celery City" years ago. And I bet this house saw some booming times back in its day!
