We are approximately 55 miles from Manhattan and accessible by public transportation via MetroNorth to Beacon. From the Beacon train station you can take a ferry (weekdays) or taxi to Newburgh.

The Stockbridge Ramsdell House is an easy drive from New York City, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. It is located on the west bank of the Hudson River, across from Beacon, New York, and just south of Interstate 84’s Newburgh-Beacon Bridge. It is a ten-minute drive from Newburgh’s Stewart International Airport.
From New York City via Public Transportation:
We are easily accessible from New York City via the Hudson line of the MetroNorth Railroad. It is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from Grand Central to the station stop at Beacon. From the Beacon train station you can take a ferry during commuter hours or take a taxi to Newburgh. Taxis wait at the train station; it is less than a five-mile ride.
Driving Directions:
From the South:
Take the Palisades Parkway North to the end. At the rotary, go past the ramp to the bridge and bear right onto 9W North. Travel north on 9W for approximately 14 miles through Fort Montgomery, Cornwall, and New Windsor. Bear right after the Windsor Motel on the right and follow signs for the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry. You will pass through an industrial section for approximately two miles and will see signs for waterfront restaurants. Pass South Street, turn left onto Broad Street, go one block, and turn left onto Montgomery Street. We are approximately three blocks farther on the left, on a tree-lined street of historic Victorian homes.
Alternate from the South:
Take the NYS Thruway (Interstate 87) to Exit 17, Newburgh. Follow the signs to Route 84 East. Take Route 84 East for a short distance to the exit for Newburgh, 9W South. From 9W South turn left at the sign for “Historic District—Newburgh Waterfront” onto North Plank Road. Go approximately 1/2 mile and turn right onto Montgomery Street. Stockbridge Ramsdell is approximately three blocks farther, on the left.
From the North:

From the West:
Take Route 84 East to the exit for Newburgh, 9W South. From 9W South turn left at the sign for “Historic District—Newburgh Waterfront” onto North Plank Road. Go approximately 1/2 mile and turn right onto Montgomery Street. Stockbridge Ramsdell is approximately three blocks farther, on the left.
