I'm sure I'll get a flurry of comments but Newburgh NY is no place to raise a family. It's got a BAD reputation for high crime bad schools and it's just no place you wanna be.
It's a shame because some of the most beautiful real estate is there...

My wife and I bought this house last year and are restoring it. We love Newburgh and are raising a family here - as are many of our friends. We restored another Victorian home in Newburgh 11 years ago, and only sold that house to buy this one. I think Newburgh is the best investment in the country - in terms of what you get for your money, the quality of life, architecture, culture, natural beauty & still being in the metro-New York area. It's a no-brainer.
