152 Main St. Hoosick Falls NY, 12090

This sweet gal is another of my "Blanche DuBois" homes. At one time I think she was a looker and over time well...the love clearly stopped coming and she is currently in need of a serious overhaul.
I wish I could be the one to give it to her. She's got amazing potential!

The Richmond Volney Estate was built circa 1850 and has over 22 rooms and 7 bathrooms with 5 intricately carved marble fireplaces, 13 foot ceilings with rare floor to ceiling windows, wide plank flooring and ornate plaster moldings.

Commercial Property:
The home is currently divided into 6, 2-3 room apartments in the main house and 1 apartment in the carriage house and generates a gross income of $50,000 a year when fully rented.

Conversion to Inn:
It could easily be converted into luxury rooms for an inn or bed and breakfast with possibilities for indoor and outdoor dining, a study and living room or bar area. The area is lacking the availability of unique inns that would serve clientele from Bennington and Williamstown.

Single Family Estate
It could also be converted back to its orginial purpose as a grand estate for a single family in a beautiful country town near. The home is situated on 2 acres of land with a carriage house and a late 1800’s barn.

The house sits on over 2.5 acres of land and sits well back from the street offering a beautiful landscape and a high degree of privacy within the town setting.

The home is sited in historic Hoosick Falls, NY a 15 minute drive to Williamstown, MA and Bennington, VT . Just 30 minute drives away are the beautiful villages of Manchester, VT and Saratoga, NY. New York City is a quick 4 hour drive and Boston is

3 ½ hours away. This estate is ideally located to take advantage of the many offerings that all of these nearby towns have to offer during all four seasons.

Hi there Diana! I'm new to your blog and I LOVE it!!!! We definitely have a lot in common. I love old houses/mansions. I actually went to look at this house in 1998 and just looked it up to see if it was still for sale. This is how I found your blog. Sadly this property is still for sale and in even worse condition. It was a complete disaster when I saw it. I can see the potential in just about any old structure but not this one. It was enormous and was too far gone. I just looked through your blog and I'm just loving it. I am always on the prowl looking at old mansions in the New York/New England vicinity. I dream of owning one of these at some point in the future. I will definitely be back to visit your blog. Thanks for sharing! Annie

Welcome Annie! I love your screen name! I hate seeing homes that are falling down like this one. It makes me super sad. I try to put up one or two homes a week so check back!

hi my name is Chris, I own this house now and it is still a sound house. I just had a lady and her renovation/ contractor look at it the other day, he said the structure was all good ( I already knew this ) she was interested in it for a bed and breakfast but thinks now to do the 6 apartments over in the main house. if I don't sell it I may do the house in the back over and live there while I do the big house over. the house and grounds are amazing, the country club is 200 feet away the town pool, ice skating rink, athletic field, large playground, basketball and tennis courts are a block away (200 to 1000 feet approximately )
