So if you get excited...

Mike told me today "Sometimes if you get excited about something I get excited too so find someplace that excites you about 80 minutes from NYC that we will only need 1 car for.
So help me this place lept to my mind and I went on a hunt.
(clapping hands) it's still available!
Garrison - Chapel $369,000

Circa 1864 Chapel currently used as an antique shop since 1966. Cathedral ceiling with exposed support beams and 1000 square feet of open space. On a main road with good visibility.

Okay so now picture it with more landscaping and a white picket fence around it.
Yes, it's close to the road but I think with a decent fence that wouldn't be an issue...

"Springside" the early 19th century residence which for decades was a staple on the Greene County Historical Society's "Old Homes Tour", has just come on the market. This area landmark is situated in a charming part of the village that contains many period houses including the residence of artist Thomas Cole, a National Historic Site, and has been lovingly restored to its 19th century splendor. The beautifully landscaped grounds include an ornamental pond and a spring house that has long been renowned for its delicious, cool, pure water, which was conducted by a series of wooden troughs to most of the homes in the village as early as 1806. Located within easy access to the NYS Thruway, the rail line to New York City, and the shopping and antique center of Hudson. Of special interest are the grand central stairway, the lovely interior woodwork, 5 fire places, and the tall windows with colored glass that extend across an entire wall of the sitting room. The home has 6 bedrooms and 5 baths. At the rear of the property is a cozy 5-room carriage house featuring a working fireplace, two bedrooms and a deck. This would make a great Bed and Breakfast!

WOWZA...

Cordts Mansion
Price: $2,950,000
Town: Kingston
Acres: 13
SqFt 11,000
Bedrooms: 9
Baths: 9
Taxes: $23,254.76
Majestically sited on 13 acres above a broad bend in the Hudson River, Cordts Mansion has unparalleled views of the Rondout Creek and the Hudson River. This "grand dame of Second Empire architecture", built in 1873 by brick magnate John H. Cordts, offers 30 rooms including 9 bedrooms, 9 baths, and 7 fireplaces. Gloriously restored by a renowned artist, the original details abound: Tiffany glass-paned doors, a mansard roof with iron cresting, elegant parlors, an elevator lift, and a conservatory. There is an expansive front porch to survey the views and gardens. But you'll find the most breathtaking vistas from the widow's walk and the top of the spectacular 3-story tower. The grounds include a magnificent Carriage House, a 2 bedroom guest house and a Caretaker's House complete with an exceptional caretaker (if desired.) Just 10 minutes from Rhinebeck. Featured in Elle Decor, Pleasure Palaces: The Art and Homes of Hunt Slonem, New York Magazine, Hudson Valley, and more. EXCLUSIVE

Durham Stone House

Price: $275,000
Acres: 3.20
SqFt 1,600
Bedrooms: 3

First, the land: Over 3 acres with spring-fed pond, horse barn, wood shed, mature trees, old lilacs, stone walls for borders to the surrounding forest. Now the house: Its native stone was laid sometime near the end of the 19th Century in unique design and construction, with a naturalist's delight in how stone and over a century of snow and rain and sun would cast a fine patina. Inside: board floors, true plaster, porcelain doorknobs, nooked-and-crannied rooms, and good tall windows for light (you can sit comfortably in most of the deeply-set windowsills). Also home to a connoisseurs' breed of draft horses, hence the solidly-built horse barn with hayloft. There's a well for livestock and one for people. The road to this place is remote and removed from the world of today, yet only 2 hours from NYC and 15 minutes from Ski Windham. EXCLUSIVE

An authentic Victorian cul-de-sac is the setting for this unique mid-19th Century brick home in Catskill featuring three levels of living space. Its sense of seclusion and privacy is unusual for a village property. The freestanding house is patterned after a sidehall townhouse, with kitchen-dining, full bath, and utility room on its first level. The second level is dedicated to living and work space (the bedroom on this level could also be an office or library) while the top floor is an aerie of two bedrooms and another full bath. The charms are many within and without: good board floors, mantels, wood-burning Franklin stove, peeks of the Hudson River from the balconied porch in winter, and an oasis of welcoming green in summer. Walk to the riverfront park, Catskill's Main Street, and Hudson's Amtrak station is just a 15-minute drive. EXCLUSIVE
